Founding Father and scientist Benjamin Franklin was actually afraid of thunderstorms, so he took shelter in a little shed in his yard as his son, William Franklin, flew a kite. Even though it was not Benjamin Franklin that flew a kite, this does not mean Franklin was not part of a breakthrough with electricity during that thunderstorm in 1752.
