29. Benjamin Franklin Remade The Alphabet
Even though Benjamin Franklin did not receive much formal education, he was self-taught and highly intelligent. He was also a fantastic writer and often got irritated by everyone else’s writing. Benjamin felt that people did not spell words correctly because some letters of the alphabet did not make sense. Therefore, Benjamin decided to make his own phonetic alphabet in hopes that it would make more sense to people. Not only did he add six new letters, but Benjamin took out the redundant consonants of C, J, Q, W, X, and Y.
