26. The Ghosts of Gettysburg
The Battle of Gettysburg is one of the most significant military battles in American history. On July 1, 1863, Union and Confederate forces met outside of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and fighting ensued. 50,000 soldiers lost their lives over the course of three days. Legend says, that you could walk across the entire battlefield on the bodies of the dead. The military disposed of 8,000 bodies without giving them proper burials and many suffered violent deaths. Therefore it would make sense that many unsettled spirits still haunt the massive battleground. Not only have people claimed to see ghosts of soldiers, but there have also been sightings of spirits of civilians who were killed as well.
