6. Blue Ridge Parkway

Why We Love It: There are many special highways in the United States, but none of them has the gorgeous scenic stretch of road of Blue Ridge Parkway. Located in Virginia and North Carolina, this beautiful national parkway goes through the Appalachian Mountains.
It consists of about 469 miles and links the Shenandoah National Park to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Even though you might not think of a highway as an area of beauty, this is still one that needs to make it on your destination list.
