7. A Medieval Mansion
During a routine excavation on a farm in Wellington, Somerset, archaeologists found quite a surprise. Though they had already performed a routine dig as required by law and did not expect to find anything of value, they uncovered a string of hidden structures from medieval times. Of course, this discovery is quite significant, especially as they could find no formal records of the existence of these structures. The structures were aligned as though they were a medieval manor for a wealthy household, and it also included a church. Findings also included glazed ceramic roofs and floor tiles, which proves the theory of the home belonging to a well-off family.
