40. Princess Diana
Princess Diana became known as the “People’s Princess” because of how much she championed human rights and humanitarian efforts across the globe, especially on behalf of children. She struggled with mental illness, especially depression, and had a tumultuous marriage to Prince Charles that ended in divorce in 1996. Bulimia was also a problem that Princess Diana struggled with. She retained the title “princess” and continued living in a royal residence but relinquished any claim to the British throne upon her divorce. When Princess Diana passed away in a car crash in 1997, the entire world mourned her passing.
