48. Amerigo Vespucci
Beautiful people throughout history have been brave and adventurous, and Amerigo Vespucci was one of the most adventurous of them all. After Christopher Columbus launched the Age of Discovery, Vespucci participated in at least two voyage. He claimed to understand that Brazil was part of an entirely different continent that Europeans had not been aware of before. The books attributed to him became wildly popular in Europe, especially in his native Italy. The Latinized form of his name became used for the New World that Europeans were so intent on discovering: America.
