26. This Wax Figure Shows America’s First President, George Washington
Without bones, it was considered to be nearly impossible to recreate President George Washington’s face. However, there was a forensic anthropologist from the University of Pittsburgh named Jeffrey Schwartz who was up to the challenge. Some of the main items Schwartz used were his life mask, statues, and a bust of Washington’s face. He used several different portraits painted of George Washington over the years to find all of the facial similarities. Schwartz wanted to depict George Washington in the prime of his youth, rather than when he was older in his Presidency. So, the end result is a waxwork that gives us a glimpse into what he actually looked like.
