57. The Fall of the Aztec Empire
You have probably heard about the fall of the Aztec Empire, but did you ever read about the explorer who caused it? The man’s name was Hernan Cortes, a Spanish conquistador who traveled around Mexico and the Americas when the Spanish started their first phase of the Spanish colonization of the Americas. Cortes also traveled to Cuba in the early 1500s. Later, he was twice appointed municipal magistrate of Santiago. Several years after this, he was awarded the coat of arms, which was a high mark of honor during his time.
