50. Gertrude Bell: The Woman Who Made History
When talking about history, sometimes women explorers get left behind, including one with the caliber of Gertrude Bell. This English archaeologist and linguist was the first woman to get a first-class degree in modern history in just two years; she was also high rank in the British military intelligence and a diplomat who helped establish the modern state of Iraq in the 1920s. Her curiosity took her to climb high mountains, making her one of the first women to do this, bringing a lot of data and findings for her books. Gertrude’s many attributions helped shape many British policies and mapped various areas in the Middle East.
