64. The Land Beyond
Leon McCarron is not only a traveler but also an author and filmmaker. Born in 1986, McCarron crossed the 1000 miles of the Empty Quarter desert in his mid-20s with Alastair Humphreys. Together, they focused on the same path Wilfred Thesiger took when he pulled a cart of supplies. McCarron made many thousand-mile expeditions, including the 3000-mile expedition walking the length of China, which took six months. He partnered with Rob Lilwall during this journey. McCarron is also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. Not only has he made independent films, but he has also written two books, including “The Land Beyond.”
