Of the Bronte children, Charlotte was the oldest and grew famous for her novel, “Jane Eyre.” She was deemed the epitome of the beauty standards of the Victorian era, with a petite frame that placed her under five feet. She was also frail in disposition, with a wasting pale appearance that most women tried to achieve at the time. However, this was likely due to tuberculosis, which she witnessed her other siblings succumb to. Her large, blue eyes were also a drawing feature, though it’s unclear whether she used nightshade drops to achieve this look.
