26. Edward’s womanizing ways included an affair with a relative of another famous royal mistress
In a quirk of history, Alice Keppel’s great-granddaughter, Camilla Parker Bowles was also the mistress to the Prince of Wales. Camilla met Charles before he met and married Diana. Their affair lasted throughout that ill-fated union (Camilla was, in the famous words of Diana, the “third person” in the marriage). Camilla and Charles finally married in 2005, with the former mistress becoming the Duchess of Cornwall. Meanwhile, another of Edward’s lovers, Lady Randolph Churchill, was the mother of Winston, who would go on to lead Britain to victory in the Second World War.
