30. Archeologists Discovered Relics from an 800-Year-Old Palace During Construction for the Beijing Olympics
China hosted the 2022 Winter Olympics just north of Beijing. Prior to beginning the construction of the site, archeologists had to survey ancient ruins to see if there was anything of value. There were the remains of a summer Jin Dynasty palace that dates back to the twelfth century. They discovered a moat, roads, walls, and foundations. The government had to move the Winter Olympics site to accommodate the site. Now, it is an archeological park that visitors can go to.
