Four Lost Temples (2020)

Archaeologists have been able to use new technologies to explore the pyramids, mastabas, temples, and tombs of the Abusir necropolis deeper than ever before. Researchers believe there were six temples dedicated to the sun god Ra constructed in Abusir, the burial space for nobility and Egyptian elite near the Saqqara site. But before 2022, only two had been unearthed. Archaeologists believe they have found four more “sun temples” dedicated to the sun god Ra. The joint Polish and Italian archaeological teams found mud brick and limestone temples that date back to the Fifth Dynasty (2465 – 2323 BCE). It contained tombs that contained clay seals with royal names connected to King Shepseskare.
